The largest funder for the UK’s heritage
Using money raised by National Lottery players, we distribute grants from £10,000 to £10million to support projects across the UK that connect people and communities to their heritage.
Heritage can be anything from the past that you value and want to pass on to future generations. Understanding, valuing and sharing our heritage brings people together, inspires pride in place and supports local economies.
Since they were established in 1994, they’ve awarded £9.5 billion of National Lottery and other funding to 53,000 projects across the UK.
In addition, they provide leadership and support across the heritage sector and advocate for heritage.
By standing up for historic places, everyone, from individuals and communities to government and major landowners, can look after and care for heritage.
Historic England ensures that people understand and appreciate the benefits England's heritage brings and why it should be respected, cherished and enhanced as part of the very soul of our nation.
They aim to open up heritage for everyone through digital resources, media campaigns, our unsurpassed archive, publishing, public information, and exhibitions.

The Heritage Trust Network is a membership organisation full of people who have delivered amazing heritage projects against all the odds.
They support members through peer-to-peer learning, knowledge sharing and networking. Their guidance and advice helps groups throughout their regeneration projects and when they are managing their restored buildings and spaces. Heritage Trust Network also gives this extraordinary grassroots movement a united voice, representing their views to government and funders.
